Overview

The Software Development Engineer (SDE) I contributes in all areas of development as a member of an Agile Scrum team using Oracle Application Testing Suite. Team members will have areas of strength and some level of specialization but must be adept at learning tools and languages that enable the team member to participate in all areas of product development. Being adaptable and knowledgeable in multiple domains enables the team members to swarm or fill gaps in order to meet commitments. This team member should have full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming, and is accountable for providing work estimates and may be responsible for multiple phases of a project.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • The SDE I works under general direction and consistently delivers on commitments
  • The SDE I is expected to demonstrate competency in the software development practices performed by Scrum teams:
  • Developing product features for any or all of the following: data marketplaces, mobile applications, web applications and API services
  • Participates in migration to the public cloud within the team as appropriate
  • Contributing to test automation and participating in peer reviews to increase product quality
  • Maintaining a production-first mindset focused on scale, uptime and ability to rapidly triage/resolve production issues
  • Investing in our Agile practice to continuously improve product quality, time to market and team member happines
  • Manage defects using HP ALM, JIRA, and or AZURE Dev Ops
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all corporate policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Working experience on Oracle Application Testing Suite tools such as Open Script and Oracle Load Testing
  • Basic functional and technical knowledge of the Oracle E-Business Suite R12 primarily in the following Oracle Financial modules (GL, iExpense, AP, FA, Cash Management, Purchasing, and iProcurement) and HCM modules.
  • Basic understanding of SOA concepts
  • Experience in design and development of Workflows and AME rules
  • Knowledge of encryption and security protocols
  • Knowledge of object oriented design, web services, DevOps and Automation
  • Java, C# or similar
  • Must have experience with source control systems such as Git, TFS, or similar
  • Understanding of technology infrastructure, security concepts and platforms
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Networking, Load Balancing, Firewalls, Docker containers and Azure or AWS clouds
  • Strong knowledge of database and test data analysis
  • Project Management Lifecycle knowledge

Skills

  • Demonstrates software development proficiency
  • Forms relationships to effectively accomplish tasks and manage dependencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • IDEs such as Eclipse, TOAD, SQL Navigator, PL-SQL Developer, and JDeveloper
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Willingness to work inside of a QA team that is transforming to a full automation delivery and DevOps model
  • Experience reporting on significant performance issues and aids in driving solution to application development team
  • Experience working closely with various business, project, and development groups from planning to the execution phase of test strategies
  • Programming skill in a common software language
  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage the investigations function with minimal supervision

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred

Experience

  • 0-2 years' experience in software development required
  • 0-2 years developing automation scripts required
  • IT experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documenting and production support of Oracle e-Business applications a plus

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment subject to stressful situations
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
  • Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
