Part-time, include requirement and total hours per weekSummary of PositionOverall duties and responsibilities are teaching all assigned classes and laboratory activities in a professional manner, assisting students on an individual and group basis and assisting the Department Chair in ensuring that the Instructional Programs of the HVAC Department are of the highest quality and reflect current technology.Minimum Required EducationAssociates Degree requiredMinimum Required ExperienceThree (3) years full time recent wage earning work experience in the HVAC career field exclusive of teaching with a Bachelor’s Degree or Five (5) years with an Associate Degree in the HVAC career field exclusive of teaching.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWorking experience and be able to perform all tasks related to the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Services & Repair industry to include the following: safety, OSHA requirements, hazardous materials use, disposal and records keeping, use of service publications, use of tools and equipment, theory, application, service and repair of all air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems, properly and safely use oxy-fuel and other soldering equipment, some management and basic computer skills. Knowledge of the HVAC education process, must possess teaching skills, and be able to teach the program mentioned above, able to perform the following tasks: curriculum development and evaluation, program development and evaluation, technical writing, course scheduling, recruitment and advertising activities, student counseling on HVAC careers, transcript and work experience evaluation, student registration, work with Advisory Committees, prepare and evaluate student surveys, and evaluate and prepare articulation agreements. Possess management skills to include: personnel supervision, budget preparation and management, bid evaluation and supply/equipment purchase procedures, office management, correspondence preparation, personnel evaluation, and resource management, must possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Word), use a calculator and Xerox machine, evaluate situations and make sound judgments, must be knowledgeable in OSHA and hazardous material requirements. Perform repairs and periodic maintenance on equipment assigned to the HVAC Department. Answer office telephones and communicate information to callers. Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and be willing to travel. Pleasant personality and be able to work with people. Must highly motivated and able to work with limited supervision. Must be fair and impartial when working with students and staff. Communicate in the English Language (Read, Write, Speak). Must be able to explain enrollment procedures for programs/course content in a manner that potential students can understand. Must be able to write legibly. Must have some counseling ability. Computer and software use. Residential and commercial heating and air conditioning units. Troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair procedures for residential and commercial systems. Use of test equipment. Recovery operations and equipment use. Air conditioning controls. HVAC system design (residential). Soldering operation. Ground loop systems. OSHA, hazardous materials and MSDS use.
