SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail Customer Service Oral Communication Problem Solving AND at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to: perform duties in support of the planning, coordinating and administering of computer systems; configure and interface conventional hardware and software programs with operating systems; test and validate system performance, recommending methods to improve; etc. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-inĀ­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to: perform duties in support of the planning, coordinating and administering of computer systems; configure and interface hardware and software programs with operating systems; test and validate system performance, recommending methods to improve; etc. Knowledge of performance measurement, tools, systems, testing, and diagnostics, and analytical methods and practices. Knowledge of network principles, configuration management , architecture, tools, equipment and interfaces. Knowledge of communications connectivity requirements, telecommunications concepts, and techniques, and operating systems software. Knowledge of the procedures and techniques necessary to gather, synthesize, and draw conclusions regarding trend analysis. Knowledge of customer support principals, methods, and procedures for documenting problem resolutions and providing guidance and training to customers. Knowledge of IT security principles, policies, products and services to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g. destructive programs/applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The employee must obtain and maintain the Top Secret Security clearance. This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. The employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft. The employee might be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes Cybersecurity work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate Cybersecurity certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4. Failure to receive the proper Cybersecurity certification may result in removal from this position. Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary involving some walking, standing, bending, computer console operating and carrying of light items, such as data products. No special physical demands are involved. Work Environment: The work is performed in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office setting. The environment involves the everyday risks or discomforts normally found in offices and conference rooms. Observes normal safety precautions when working in and traveling away from the work site. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
