This position reports to the deputy warden. Directly supervises assigned sergeants. Responsible for the custody and security of detainees in the facility in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) directives. Essential functions include:

Serve as shift supervisor.

Coordinate activities of offender orientation, arrival and discharge.

Prepare pre-release detainees for release.

Coordinate the completion of all necessary paperwork.

Conduct interviews and counseling sessions as assigned.

Monitor intake photo and identification activities.

Coordinate problem cases with counselors and identify areas in which guidance and development techniques are needed for detainee adjustment.

Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and detainees; schedule employees’ and detainees’ work and off-duty time; assist in formulation security and work procedures.

Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security.

Supervise and provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees and detainees assigned to work duty.

Read, review and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainees’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.

Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports.

Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: unit and administration segregation area.

Maintain the secure custody and security of detainers including observation of detainees, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.

Perform specific security functions including pat and strip searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.

Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

Maintain accountability of staff, detainees, and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of three (3) years’ experience, one (1) which must be in a supervisory capacity in an adult correctional environment or related field required.
