Job summary

Amazon's hybrid workplace includes remote and in-office roles. By applying to this position you will have an opportunity to share your preferred working location from the following: In-office locations: Austin, TX; Seattle, WA; Cupertino , CA. Remote location(s): United States.

The AWS Graviton Software team is looking for performance engineering focused Sr Software Engineers to drive the optimization of open source and internal applications. The AWS Annapurna Labs designed Graviton as a strategic initiative to improve how software works at Amazon scale. Graviton is Arm-based CPU that delivers better performance at lower price and lower carbon footprint over comparable x86-based instances. Amazon teams like RDS, ElastiCache, and EMR depend on Graviton's unique features, high performance and lower overall cost to deliver products their customers love.

We benchmark and optimize internal and open source software. We diagnose and fix operations issues to make sure we have available Graviton instances for customers. As a software engineer in the team, you will have the opportunity to lead the innovation and deliver software that powers the world largest cloud provider.

As an Assembly Programming Engineer, you will work on improving the arm software by rewriting or optimizing the existing libraries to deliver the best performance on Graviton CPUs. You will get an opportunity to work across ffmpeg, libx264/x265/av1 codecs, BLAS/ML/HPC and several generic libraries. If you are already an open source developer or passionate about it, you will be able to continue your passion and contribute back to the community across all those projects. In this role you will use and further develop your deep knowledge in areas including design, implementation, and data analysis. You will have the opportunity to understand and improve how AWS delivers on one of the most important shifts at the core of the data center: our migration to Arm applications.

About the teamThe team ports, optimizes, and develops software to drive down the cost of adoption and operation for the AWS Graviton instances.
