Job Summary

The General Clerk I position performs administration support functions for the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the State of Texas provided by POWTEC Solutions, LLC.

The position is Non-Exempt (hourly), Full Time (40 hours) per week, Monday through Friday.

Hourly compensation: $17.36

This is a Services Contract Act (SCA) position and has a Department of Labor (DOL) designated prevailing wage for each County the work is performed. This wage is mandated and compensated based upon the DOL. The hourly prevailing wage of $13.18.

In addition, a $4.18 Health & Welfare Benefit is paid per hour. The health & welfare benefit is provided as assistance to afford health insurance coverage with our organization or elsewhere and entirely up to your discretion on how you spend your wages.

This is position supports the Government and requires successfully passing both a Background Check and Drug Screening to qualify.

Must be US Citizen.

Essential Duties and Tasks

Proficiency in word processing.

Knowledge and experience in utilizing a variety of computer hardware and software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge and experienced in operating small office machines, such as calculators, fax machines, scanning devices, postage meters and copy machines.

Knowledge and experience in general office procedures, such as preparing reports, spreadsheets and filing.

Ensure procedural handbooks and manuals are kept current and up-to-date.

Compile and review the accuracy of contract administration supporting documents.

Experience with Databases and data entry.

Skillful in working with the public.

Capable of working independently.

Possess basic telephone skills and etiquette.

Although not required the following qualifications are preferred:

o Knowledge of Arc View

o Knowledge of general agricultural and conservation programs

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

A general understanding of supporting an organization in an office setting.

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary and possessing good customer services skills.

Qualifications

Understanding and possessing the ability to enter data accurately

Ability to file and store departmental backup documentation on the computer and filing

Creation of Word Documents

Creation of Excel Spreadsheets

Ability to follow prescribed workflow processes

Ability to compile data in a prescribed manner to support reporting requirements

Customer Service experience

Valid Driver's License is required

High School Graduate and some college and/or commensurate experience

Physical Demands
