Provide interpretation/translation of Spanish to English and vice-versa between Healthcare Practitioner (Homeopathic Practitioner) and Patient/Client during appointments. Schedules appointments in English for Spanish-speaking clientele. Acts as a cultural consultant to staff and as an advocate for non-Spanish speaking staff. Assesses and monitors both health professional's and patient's understandings of the information conveyed and keeps the practitioner informed as to the level of that understanding.

Essential Functions

Performs interpretation regarding health and wellness issues and conditions with competence including demonstrating having knowledge of general medical terminology in English and Spanish; skills of attentive listening, short memory retention and ability to speak English and Spanish with fluency to convey messages accurately and completely between two languages.

Observes medical interpreter professional/ethical standards and health care quality/safety protocols, when performing medical interpretation/translation for patients and their families, including in-group setting, such as family conferences.

Delivers consistent service excellence in interactions with patients, families, and visitors.

Demonstrates empathy supporting patients and families, and remains calm helping others dealing with difficult or emotionally taxing situations.

Answers phone calls from unknown outside non-English speaking callers and assists with appointment scheduling.

Assesses patient's/family's comprehension of "informed consent" as needed. Advises physician/patient care staff of any need for clarification.

Conducts in-services and consultations relating to medical interpretation/ translation, health cultural practice or pertinent issues with healthcare staff personnel, and appropriate departments or committees.

Cooperates maintaining the quality of service by helping promptly with pending requests, exercising undeviating courtesy towards the homeopathic practitioner.

Assist Patients with required forms and documentation.

Translates correspondence, medical histories, medical consent forms, medical procedures and instructions, legal documents, manuals, brochures and other pertinent documents as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Degree or work history in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college/university is preferred.

Experience: Must be bilingual in English-Spanish
