Experienced Pet Groomer/Stylist AND/OR
Dog Bather/Animal Caretaker

High-Happy Pet Resort, LLC is the premier pet resort in the Edinburg, Pharr and McAllen area for boarding, self-serve dog wash, grooming, and doggie daycare. High-Happy Pet Resort, located across 281 and the Bert Ogden Arena, is seeking qualified applicants as a Groomer AND Bather/Caretaker.
We are currently looking for an experienced dog groomer to join our team on a part-time/full-time OR temporary basis. You must have the ability to groom all breeds of dogs. We supply bath tubs, grooming tables, cage banks, dryers, and all appointments of our rapidly growing client base. Pay is based by percentage of services charged to the customer. $500 - $1,400 per week depending on the quality of work performed and the efficiency of time management to complete the job. Additionally, highly experienced groomers will receive a $1,250 sign-on/loyalty bonus for joining our team.
The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and work well both independently and as part of a team. Applicants are highly encouraged to have a portfolio of past grooming jobs readily available if called upon for an interview.
DUTIES OF THE GROOMER:
Providing high quality breed specific cuts.
Providing professional bathing and spa services.
Discussing and documenting clients' grooming requests and preferences.
Promoting grooming services to current and potential clients.
The work schedule for the Pet Groomer & Stylist may include weekends as well as some holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE GROOMER POSITION:
Candidates for the position must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a professional groomer and pet stylist.
Knowledge of individual breed standards.
Must be physically able to handle and secure large and small dogs.
Ability to perform 6-8+ grooms per day with no restrictions.
Ability to bend, stand, stoop, walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 80 pounds at a height of 3-4 feet onto a counter.
Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
DUTIES OF THE BATHER/ANIMAL CARETAKER:
Properly bathing client's pets upon check-out or as an individual service.
Providing bathing and nail trimming services.
Promoting upgrades to clients and the ability to discuss the services performed.
Prepare feeding menus, provide water, and administer medication, if any, to all animals staying at the resort.
Provide daily walks for all dogs several times during the assigned shift.
Clean, disinfect, and sanitize all living spaces of animals according to resort standards.
Gather saliva, urine, vomit, hair, and stool on a constant basis and immediately remove from facility.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE BATHER/ANIMAL CARETAKER POSITION:
Must have knowledge of the proper bathing techniques for all breeds of dogs including cleaning of the ears, face, and eyes.
Must have knowledge on the clipping and grinding of nails.
Must have knowledge on the proper drying of all breeds using towels and air dryers.
Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must have a strong desire and ambition to work with animals.
Must not be afraid to get bitten, scratched, bruised, or kicked by aggressive large and small breed animals.
Must be able to stand for a long period of time.
Must be able to lift 80 pounds at a height of 3-4 feet onto a counter.
Must have sufficient strength and full range of motion of both arms and shoulders and the manipulative dexterity of the hands in order to properly handle and control large breed animals weighing over 100 pounds.
Must be able to maintain a kneeling position repeatedly in order to perform work related tasks on ground level surfaces.
