When you decide to build your career at Martin Marietta, you'll know what it's like to be respected, challenged and rewarded.Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the primary function of the Electrical/Instrument Technician is to maintain, calibrate, perform trouble analysis, consult, research, and develop process control instrumentation for the purpose of obtaining optimum production efficiency.Requirements
Good knowledge of industrial and electrical safety including lock-out procedure, arc flash protection etc.
Ability perform risk assessment, as well as contribute and deliver high quality tool box talks
Knowledge of plant and equipment layout, basic cement manufacture, cement process parameters, store room and tool room procedures, and electrical standards and codes
Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and schematics
Installs, maintains and calibrates process control and instrumentation equipment including, but not limited to, flow meters, thermocouples, RTDs, transmitters, weigh feeders, starters, DC drives, AC drives, VFDs, and emissions analyzers
Calibrates and maintains all emissions analyzers in accordance with service manuals and regulatory permit requirements
Maintains instrument logbook on all maintenance activity
Ensures process control data is being recorded, backed-up and archived
Performs maintenance on both new and existing instrument equipment
Ability to pull wires, repair or replace lights and fixtures
Perform ground and megger testing
Ability to repair and service HVAC equipment
Ability to inspect, PM and repair motors
Ability to program and trouble shoot PLCs
Ability to inspect, PM and maintain other cement plant equipment such as dust collectors, conveyors, kilns, clinker coolers, coal mills, ball mills, vertical mills, vibrators, flow meters, bin level systems, temperature probes, level gauges, fans, blowers, pressure vessels, pumps, valves and gates, air separators, silos, reclaimer, load-out equipment, etc.
Ability to inspect, PM and maintain hydraulic systems and pressure vessels
Ability to provide clear and precise feedback on work done including repairs, PM and inspections
Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management System
Basic understanding of vibration analysis
Ability to trouble shoot complex electrical, instrument and process problems
Provide leadership and assists in technical training
Minimum Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have two years of college, technical school, or service training pertaining to instrumentation and electronic technology or four years of related field experience as an instrumentation technician
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be knowledgeable in areas of electronics, computers, basic operating systems software (Microsoft Server, Windows XP & Windows 7, and MS office), process analyzers and electrical controls
Must be knowledgeable in areas of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, chemistry, physics, and fluid dynamics
Knowledge of thermography, ultrasonic testing, and PDMA is preferred
Work requires the ability to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and schematics
Must possess good English communication skills - written and interpersonal
Ability and initiative to make sound decisions
Excellent work and safety record
Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
Ability to be on call 24/7 as needed
Physical Requirements
Work requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours)
High degree of manual dexterity and accuracy required
Must be able to use hand tools and electronic test equipment such as multi-meters and scopes
Physical requirements also include lifting/carrying up to 70 pounds from ground to waist as required, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, working at heights up to 250 feet, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, squatting to perform the essential functions
Working ConditionsWorks in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards.
