Tyler Technologies is looking for a Vice President of Development to join our Courts & Justice division's product development team. The role of the Vice President assumes responsibility for all aspects of the division's enterprise products, from generation of new ideas to their ultimate distribution to the marketplace. The main objective of the position is to ensure the development team builds a market leading suite of products with a high degree of quality via ongoing collaboration with clients and internal partners. Location Plano, Texas Responsibilities Oversees the planning, direction, and coordination of all activities associated with creating software across multiple functional areas and products Manages the day-to-day operations of the software development organization, providing leadership, communication, prioritization, and decision-making activities to optimize intra - and inter-departmental performance Leads the development organization in the efficient, on-time delivery of high-quality software products and tools Provides technical, functional, and strategic leadership for applications development across the enterprise Oversees projects across functions to ensure technical/functional solutions are well-integrated, comply with technical strategy, comply with product strategy, and meet or exceed customer requirements Prioritizes and allocates projects and resources with the assistance of departmental stakeholders, peer leaders, and clients Balances the continuous maintenance of our existing products with the injection of new technologies for the betterment of the suite Participates in strategic decisions about the technology, definition, and implementation of enterprise software products Participates and advises in the evaluation of potential strategic acquisitions Full profit & loss responsibility for the development organization, to include services revenue and contractual compliance with certain custom development contracts Recruits, develops, and retains individuals with skills, attitude, and experience necessary to enable the organization to meet commitments Delivers performance feedback, reviews, and development for the department Coaches and mentors direct reports Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the organization and ensures clear communication of strategy to teams with clear articulation of their roles and deliverables Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time Qualifications BS or MS/MBA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience Ten years of software development experience Seven years of management responsibility Proven leadership in organizations of at least 150 staff members Ability to lead projects across multiple vintages of technology, to include application maintenance, modernization, and innovation Ability to balance and effectively deliver contractually obligated custom development alongside new investments Courts or Local Government software industry experience desired Demonstrated ability to develop breakthrough product and process strategies Demonstrated extensive knowledge and application of computer science theory Demonstrated extensive knowledge of development process and methodologies Demonstrated extensive knowledge of product architecture and technologies Demonstrated ability to effectively work with other departments and have client interactions Demonstrated organization and planning ability Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and customer service Great Place to Work & Grow Your Career Tyler is continually recognized as a great workplace locally and nationally.
