What We're Looking ForOur Plano office is seeking a Scientist/Biologist Intern for Summer 2023.Seeking interns eager to learn the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process as it relates to transportation projects. A Scientist/Biologist intern on our team would be required to assist in field work and analysis of data, and preparation of appropriate documents and permits. This work would consist of approximately 10-20% field work and 80-90% an office setting. Daily and potential overnight travel would be required for field work. Field work may occur in various conditions including varied temperatures and overgrown vegetation.Relocation and Housing are NOT available for this position.Primary Focus Will Include:Data collection, analysis, and preparation of natural resource NEPA documents.

Learn and assist staff with other NEPA resource areas such as noise, community, hazardous materials, etc.

Perform environmental analysis for infrastructure projects.

Assist with onsite environmental investigation including field reconnaissance, photography, delineation of water resources, habitat assessment, biological surveys, verification of land uses.

Collect and organize data and results for reports and presentations.

Assist with exhibit preparation and GIS mapping.

Assist with research, development and documentation of projects.

Assist with analysis of environmental impacts as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:Two years completion of post-secondary degree program

Pursuing a major in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in biological sciences, natural resource management, wildlife science or management, ecology, zoology, botany, conservation biology, or a closely related field. Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology

Ability to work outdoors performing field work in various conditions for wetland delineations, plant identification, wildlife habitat assessment, biological surveys, hazardous materials site assessments, and other field work as needed.

NEPA awareness or general understanding.

GIS mapping experience.

Document writing and editing skills.

Works well in a team setting.

Problem solving and analytical skills.

Familiarity using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

What You'll NeedEssential Responsibilities:Assists project team members with various support tasks.

Conducts basic research and data collection.

Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.

Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.

Performs other duties assigned.
