Senior Manager, API Development (Remote Eligible)

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, API Development , in software development to lead technical teams and deliver scalable and secure, world class solutions while maintaining a strong customer focus. You will use your technical leadership, program management and business acumen, working with stakeholders to identify, define, and deliver scalable solutions that enable Capital One's businesses. Our organization is building a platform which enables the enterprises to take control of their complex IT landscape in near real-time that needs to scale to exponential growth. You will be part of building the next generation API's as a part of this platform development for internal customers, partners and third party products with the adoption of GraphQL, Kafka, GRPC technologies.

General Responsibilities:
  • Programmatic approach to and improved focus on optimization and innovation.
  • Adoption of leading automation technologies to improve service delivery and efficiency
  • Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
  • 5+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • Hire and develop the best and brightest software engineers
  • Deliver against strategic business objectives
  • Better cost efficiency and increased speed to market for application development
  • Improved focus on delivering business initiatives and outcomes

Capital One is open to hiring a Remote Employee for this opportunity. Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 8 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of full stack development experience
  • 5+ years of experience overseeing multiple project teams
  • 5+ years experience as an technical delivery manager or equivalent
  • Experience collaborating and developing client relationships, developing new opportunities with clients, and identifying engagement follow-on opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Project scoping, estimating, and planning experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A deep understanding of the software development life cycle, and a track record of shipping software on time
  • Strong sense of ownership, including an ability to promote operational excellence.
  • Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns.
  • Deep understanding of Software architecture/patterns, modern cloud services and API development.
  • Experience of mentoring other engineers to maintain architectural vision and software quality and help them improve their skills.
