The UI/UX Engineer will be part of Toyota Motors North America Connected Team and will play key role in 24 MM Project.

Who we’re looking forThe primary responsibility of this role is to support development of future cockpit scenarios and Graphical User Interfaces [GUI] schemes for meter, head-up display and other in vehicle screens, evaluate cockpit proof of concepts and work with other global Toyota stakeholders to set direction for cockpit schemes considering relevant business conditions and customer acceptance. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Connected Technologies objective to develop and deploy unified cockpit solutions.

What you’ll be doing
  • Manage projects, developing cockpit proof of concepts and schemes for electronic parts, setting technical direction
  • Identify need for evaluation of usability, suitability and customer appeal of cockpit concepts with internal/customer subjects
  • Follow department processes, meeting deadlines, and generating error-free output for the group whilst also identifying opportunities to create and promote new processes to improve efficiency
  • Lead, mentoring, motivating and coaching less experienced engineers positively through design processes, supplier engagement,
  • Analyze data and development of countermeasures to problems, including negotiation of changes
  • Prepare cockpit planning documents based on customer research and industry research
  • Collect North American Market Needs based on customer discovery activities, benchmarking in Cockpit schemes that deliver these requirements
  • Prioritization of features and improvement items, optimizing design considering cost, schedule and resources as well as customer needs
  • Make decisions and promote decision making based on data that is collected through testing and research, gaining consensus with other Departments in North America, and Japan
  • Improve the customer experience by innovation. Continually gaining knowledge of parts, competitors and customers and transforming them into innovative proposals, designs or developments. Benchmark competitor vehicles, consumer electronics, and other related technologies then derive next generation parts/system proposals to improve user experience, cost, mass, and performance and coordinate supplier reviews and judge supplier capability
