What you’ll be doing The Voice Capacity Engineering team under Verizon Network Engineering organization is looking for a self-motivated and innovative thinking engineer in support of Verizon VoIP architecture and technology application and capacity management. As a senior level member of technical staff, you will be interacting with planning engineers, network operations staff, network architects, Sales teams, and vendor partners to provide complex capacity solutions to meet our customer’s needs in an evolving networking industry.This engineering will serve as a technical lead from Voice Engineering for the Network Transformation program. They will be involved in identifying switches to be part of NT, performing detailed network analysis on the impact of the migrations, determine budget to make purchases of next generation switching equipment, then assist in managing capacity throughout the entire project.

Perform network analysis on existing VzT TDM footprint with in franchise markets.

Identify capacity needs for replacement switching technology

Work with vendors on capacity requirements, equipment config regarding cards and ports.

Obtain quotes as needed for new switching equipment requirements.

Manage budget for Voice Engineering’s role in the NT program.

Engineer SBC capacity of Retail VoIP across many VoIP node types.

Engineer IP Contact Center SBC capacity with various specialty call flows.

Manage the VoIP budget as it relates to the infrastructure across all VoIP services.

Work with the Product team as new services are proposed and designed to ensure network feasibility.

Work closely with account teams as they interface with the customers on the requested VoIP services.

Work closely with Planning and Maintenance Engineering on new designs and changes to existing node designs.

Understand impact of various VoIP services to the infrastructure tools at each node.

Perform traffic trending, gather forecasts, project migrations to determine future capacity needs.

Provide SBC assignments per customer via NCAR capacity process.

Report on platform capacity to Engineering, Planning, Operations, and Maintenance Engineering.

Obtain quotes from vendors on VoIP node infrastructure, tools, and individual Virtual Service Node platforms.

What we’re looking for You’ll need to have:

Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Four or more years on data analytics and network monitoring experience.

Strong network architectural design and engineering experience.

Experience in SDN/NFV virtualization of products/services.

In depth knowledge of VoIP call flows.

Understanding of inbound and outbound IPCC call flows.

Understanding of DSCIP, NS/RS, Broadsoft, SBC related to detailed call flows and network architecture.

Experience working with Vendors.

Switching experience on VzT, VzB, and VzW.

Working knowledge of capacity and technical requirements of the Ribbon C20/G9/G6/G5 architecture.

Knowledge of VzT processes for CCR, provisioning, migration work, capacity engineering.

Irisview knowledge and experience.

Splunk, vPlan, Solarwinds reporting knowledge and experience.

Knowledge of SDN architecture and technology (control plane, data plane, management plane, orchestration, etc.).

Industry technology leadership skills.

Experience in IP and TDM technologies.

Understanding of the Network Transformation program.

Working knowledge of VzT.

Network or system software development experience.

Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning new technologies with minimal oversight.

Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal/ written) skills.

Deep understanding of the relationship between Engineering, Planning, Operations, and Maintenance Engineering.
