The Scrum Master coaches cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Design, etc.) on agile principles and scrum practices as well as enables teamwork in support of timely delivery of high value product features. The Scrum Master taps into their expertise in Lead/Agile development and delivery standard methodology to empower agile teams to optimize the velocity of execution through continuous improvement. Individuals in this role are outcome-focused and are proactive, self-starters who can drive execution. Scope of responsibility. Responsible for handling multiple products and ensures the agile team(s) adheres to Lean/Agile gold standards, and guidelines. Acts as a facilitator, assisting team enhanced performance and increase efficiencies by removing impediments, minimizing distractions, increasing risks and issues, and ensuring proper agile lifecycle management (ALM) tools are in place (Jira, Confluence, others as needed).Essential duties and responsibilities- Guides a team in optimally employing Scrum practices and principles to build value and increase customer and partner satisfaction. Supports the Product Owner on refining and handling the product backlog.
- Promotes improved engineering and quality assurance practices. Facilitates Scrum events and other meetings as vital.
- These include, but are not limited to: Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, Product Backlog refinement, and release planning. Identifies and removes impediments and prevents distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal(s). Ensures that cross-functional partners and assigned team(s) understand how they can push through their own impediments.
- Assesses the Scrum maturity of the team and organization and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable. Tracks metrics that are meaningful to the team to deliver to the marketplace and sustainably improve. Maintains information radiators and team tools, which includes sprint board, release burnup charts, progress dashboards, etc.
- Participates and engages in Agile Community of Practice (i.e. attends events to gain and exchange information, improves and practices on skills, and actively works to advance domain knowledge).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
