Join a dynamic, self-organized team which specializes in IT Event Management capabilities for State Farm. Our purpose is to help our product teams achieve enhanced observability to the dependencies, performance, stability and resiliency of their applications/services.

We explore new tools, technology, and techniques to meet the needs of the enterprise and our customers. We procure and build new tools from scratch, and integrate open source tools into our product workflows. We coach, teach, and promote to build knowledge and expertise. We use multiple programming languages and technical stacks, including AWS. We work collaboratively and learn from each other's diverse experiences. Incumbency:

This position will have an 18-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization (e.g. H-1B visa) for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

An ideal candidate:
  • Will be familiar with DevOps - goals, benefits, metrics used, and techniques.
  • Will be familiar with IT Event Management capabilities: Event Logging, Application Monitoring, Network Monitoring, Synthetic Monitoring, Real User Monitoring
  • Will be familiar with a wide variety of programming languages and platforms (see below), or have a history of quickly picking up new knowledge.
  • Will have a passion for improving the day to day effectiveness of developer teams thru automation, insights, tooling, and coaching.
  • Will have experience with the challenges development teams face.
  • Will be familiar with code deployment processes, pipelines, automated testing, etc.
  • Will have experience creating solution documentation and presenting overviews, training, etc.
  • Will be adept at creating relationships with product teams and influencing product team behavior.
