Job summary

Partnering with the Principal Data Scientist, this role will involve developing ML models to infer and learn from (un)structured data.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Works/leads on complex, cross-functional research or analytical projects demonstrating advanced computational algorithms.
  • Develops custom algorithms for solving sophisticated real estate business problems across a wealth of structured and unstructured data across multiple data sources.
  • Drives quick and sturdy business insights using standard tools and frameworks, potentially across various tech stacks including Open Source
  • Acts as a frontline consult to trigger thinking to solve business problems
  • Wraps data insights into narratives with visualizations, with special focus on Interpretable/ Explainable Machine Learning and Causal Inference

Technical and Other Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in Supervised and Unsupervised learning - from Regression, Forecasting, Classification, to NLP, Decision and Search Algorithms. Specialization in one significant ML sub-discipline like NLP or Optimization is encouraged.
  • Explainable understanding of Optimization algorithms and their implementation in at least one programming language.
  • Strong coding skills in R and Python; and scripting in SQL and MS Excel. Any other relevant programming language skills like Java, Scala, Julia, etc.

Education and Experience

Must have between 4-6 years of impactful experience in creating Data-driven products and productizing ML models, while being mindful of Data pipelines.

Bachelor's in fields such as Mathematics (Pure/ Applied), Statistics, Computer Science/ Engineering, Information Systems or any other Scientific field - along with proven experience. Or a Masters/ PhD with lesser, but applicable, experience is also welcomed.

Certificates and/or License

Data Scientist Certification or equivalent combination of experience and/or education.

Communication skills

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond optimally to the most critical issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

Financial Knowledge

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

Reasoning ability

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

Other skills and/or Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of R and/or Python, together with SQL.

Demonstrated knowledge of standard machine learning algorithms, based on “An Introduction to Statistical Learning” by James et. al. or similar textbook. Demonstrated knowledge of strengths, weaknesses, and real-world performance of the ML algorithms.

Demonstrated knowledge of web scrapping and data preprocessing.

Scope of responsibility
