Responsibilities

The Small Business Insurance product team is working to improve and simplify the sales and service experience for our State Farm Agents and Customers. This job is for you if you are passionate about user experience and have a strong desire to work on a product that will directly impact our customers. You will have the opportunity to innovate on new ideas, get feedback directly from users, and develop new capabilities that will drive Business Lines growth for our organization. You will also drive quality for the Frontend software development by influencing the use of best practices, setting direction, engaging in detailed design, all while collaborating with multiple product teams across the organization.

  • Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners
  • Develops solutions on variety of platforms according to business requirements
  • Leads solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
  • Utilizes agile software development practices, coding, data and testing standards, secure coding practices, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery and software architecture
  • Possesses an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Participates in design thinking, ideation, and prototyping
  • Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
  • Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness, expectation of continuous innovation
  • Resolves problems that result in a decreased time to market; improves quality, enhances flexibility, and embraces the solution provider mindset
  • Exhibits DevOps mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset

Qualifications

  • Highly proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Typescript experience is a plus
  • Knowledgeable of JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Backbone, Ember, ReactJS. React experience preferred.
  • Other JavaScript/CSS frameworks and libraries. Must be knowledgeable of multiple frameworks or libraries, strengths and weakness of each, and which are the best solution for different types of problems.
  • CSS preprocessors such as SASS, LESS, or Stylus.
  • RESTful or GraphQL APIs. GraphQL experience is a plus.
  • Version control and git, Github/Gitlab.
  • Understand and able to implement principals of responsive design.
  • Knowledge of different tools and methods to automate testing of frontend systems including how, why and when to write unit, functional tests.
  • Tools and practices for debugging, performance and build automation.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Preferred Technical skills:

APIs such as GraphQL, REST, Full Stack Developer with hands on experience with:

  • Frontend: React - Functional,HTML/CSS/JS,Typescript,Other framework/library such as Angular/Ember/Vue/etc,CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material, etc.

  • Developer Tools: CodeceptJS/Selenium/Karate or similar Automated Acceptance Testing frameworks,Security scan tools, e.g. NIQS, Checkmarx,Code quality tools, e.g. Jacoco, Pit Mutation, Checkstyle, ESLint, etc,npm/Yarn,Git,Gitlab & Gitlab DevOp Tools, ChromeDevTools,Splunk,SOAPUI/Postman,Maven/Gradle
