Great part time job to deliver cooking games, activities and instruction to 2nd – 8th graders looking for fun and safe summer activities. A fun job working with kids in locations (depending on COVID-19 re-openings) either online, or throughout the DFW metroplex. If you live near Ft. Worth then around Ft. Worth, otherwise, Dallas to Northern Collin County – then that area. Camp instructors will be responsible for shopping, gathering of camp materials and providing instruction on simple cooking items that are healthier choice options. Your creativity is need because we are always adding games and activities. Camps are ½ day programs either from 8:30am-noon or 1–4:15pm. Expect up to 16-40 hours per week during the summer.

Qualifications:

Love working with kids, teens, tweens. Enjoy being creative through art and cooking. High school diploma plus either relevant work experience. Some college preferred. Discipline and reliability important. Candidates must be either in-progress or have completed a degreed program. Candidates must want to work with children ages 8 and up; at least 6 months of equivalent study/experience. Summer camp work or past volunteering counts.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check in order to work with children,

  • Enjoy cooking (some cooking background a plus),
  • Good oral and written communication skills,
  • Organizational skills,
  • Multi-tasking,
  • Business common sense,

  • Candidate must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and be able to come to at least two activities in which to volunteer for skills assessment and orientation.

Other skills:

Candidates must have reliable transportation. Computer literacy required. People skills required. Microsoft Office products preferred. Candidate must have access to computer, internet and printer. Job duties involve occasional use of technology. Cooking basics needed. Also reliable transportation is a must.

The instructor and assistants will:

  • Demonstrate simple food dishes to kids and help our campers replicate the dish. Instructor will coordinate games, activities and teaching aids educating kids on health and wellness through cooking.

  • Prepares food will work cleanly and safely with established sanitation policies and procedures, and, as may be directed by camp director(s), to ensure that camp safety and quality food is delivered at all times.

  • The instructor assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.

  • The instructor must be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others.

  • The instructor must assist in compliance with any dietary allergies, intolerances and food restrictions if they should come up with the camp directors.

  • The instructor consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company’s Mission, Purpose, Vision, Values, and corporate atmosphere.

· A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some specialized training in foodservice is desirable. May be required to successfully complete an approved sanitation and safety course.

  • Ability to read, speak and understand English, follow directions and complete tasks.

  • Ability to follow time schedules for camp activities.

  • Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.

  • Dependable, with experience working in facilities having camps.

  • General interest, knowledge and understanding of working with kids and of food.

  • Ability to read and accurately apply requirements of camp rules, processes and policies.

  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required.

  • Ability to interact positively with campers, parents and park/rec facility staff members and other personnel and the public.

  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.

  • Organize the work in the kitchen so that kitchen processes run efficiently

  • Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen for camper safety

  • Make sure that the hygiene and food safety standards are placed as a top priority throughout all stages of food preparation

  • Enforce camper safety during this COVID-19 period as it relates to food and safety standards

  • Familiar with food safety standards

  • Capability to multi-task

  • Ability to take direction

  • MUST be a team player

  • Ability to work with composure under pressure

  • Possess problem solving skills, self-motivation, and organization

  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand basic cooking recipes and adhere to directions

  • An effective leader who is able to effectively control his/her time management

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour
