Seeking a PRN -

Non-CertifiedMedical Technologistto join our team who is responsible for performing routine and complex medical laboratory tests and analysis of results; assuming accountability for accurate results and responsibility for assigned equipment within section/department

In this role, the Non-Certified Medical Technologist:

• Performs specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing.
• Analyzes test results - demonstrates knowledge of pathological processes with correlation of disease states and test results.
• Understands, performs, and practices preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; troubleshoots and takes corrective action.
• Understands, performs, and practices quality control to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required. Communicates any relevant QC information to supervisor/lead tech.
• Assumes responsibility for own development; meets timeliness for gaining skills. Satisfactorily completes competency checklist for this position
• Provides technical information about test results to physicians, nurses and patients. Acts as a resource to others.

Qualifications

For those applying with a high school diploma or equivalent, 11 years of clinical lab experience is required. All others must have an Associate’s Degree from an accredited MLT training program or a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year accredited CLS program.

In lieu of the education requirements listed above, those applying with 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited college or University, including 24 hours of medical technology or 24 hours of science including 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology and 12 hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical technology combination, and successful completion of a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training course will also be considered.
