System One is seeking an Accounting Director to provide quality and timely financial accounting services while ensuring appropriate GAAP compliance and internal controls. The director will provide strong leadership, direction, and oversight to the financial accounting department managers and team to ensure accounting processes and procedures are developed, trained, and implemented on a consistent basis across the enterprise. Strong management, communication, and problem-solving skills are critical. The director will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and skills development within the financial accounting team and will also assist with training curriculum development and processes throughout the accounting & administration department. Responsibilities: Primary responsibility for providing direction and oversight to a group of financial accounting managers whose goal is to provide quality and responsive financial accounting services, while also maintaining good internal controls

Direct and oversee corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and requirements, internal and external

Direct and oversee the financial accounting processes: trial balance management, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation and related protocols, subsidiary ledger maintenance, general ledger recording of cash management transaction, general ledger recording of insurance (worker’s comp., auto liability, and general liability related accounting transactions

Obtain a working knowledge of the construction business including an understanding of projects and their financial structure

Training, skills development, curriculum development

Direct and oversee the preparation of federal and state tax return support schedules: M-1s; apportionment factors; tax depreciation schedules

Support the organization’s annual external audit process

Head of one or more departments or segments of the organization, with responsibility for working closely with top management to establish broad plans that contribute to the development and implementation of policies that affect several functional areas. Has assigned budgetary responsibilities.

Will have varying ranges of budget responsibility.

Complexity of decision making plans and performs highly complex or technical work where no procedures or standard methods are available.

Complete projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance

10+ years of accounting experience

Values ethics, professionalism, and maintains confidentiality

Extensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Computer software experience: Microsoft Windows PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Strong Interpersonal skills

Strong Oral and Written Communication and presentation skills

Ability to problem solve and use of critical thinking skills

Work directly with managerial accounting to understand and guide the flow of financial information from field projects up to the financial statements

Guide and advise departments and functional leaders on accounting issues

On occasion, assist with special projects in coordination with management, performing accounting research, and creating/providing the required deliverables

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent

CPA License

Accounting for international operations

Knowledge of foreign accounting practices and consolidations of foreign entities
