Job SummaryThe Senior Construction Cost and Change Order Engineer will help with setting up budgets, monitoring cost, revenue, quantities on heavy highway, road, and bridge projects, to include estimating and pricing change orders. Essential Functions
Help setup Control Budgets using standard cost codes
Track costs and commitments on projects
Monitor and review Earned Value reporting
Price Change Orders and ensure new change orders are accurately added to the cost system
Administer Cost Engineering impacted management of change, including budget transfers, contingency drawdown and trend logs
Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes
Work with Procurement, Estimating & Project Management to understand work completed, outstanding invoices and resolve claims
Work with Accounting to ensure established accounting processes, systems, and procedures are followed
Facilitate meetings
Anticipates resistance to changes and applies strategies to mitigate
Consistently considers problems, process improvements, changes, etc. with an enterprise mindset
Travel to other project locations – North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas (20% traveling)
Mentor/train others

5 plus years of experience in Cost Engineering/Project Controls, pricing change orders in heavy highway required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
Project Controls or Cost Engineering experience in the heavy highway industry experience preferred
Experience with consistently considering problems, process improvements, changes, etc. with an enerprise mindset
Primavera P6 experience a plus
AACE International certification as a Certified Cost Consultant and/or as a Certified Cost Engineer
Project Management Professional (PMP/PMI) certification a plus
In-depth knowledge of industry and professional cost engineering and/or Project Services practices, trends, best practices, etc.
Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
Excel knowledge - Experience with pivot tables, formulas, v-look up, charts/graphs capabilities is required
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Cost accounting tools - Cost Tracking Tools/Dashboards, is required; Working knowledge of SAP and Hard Dollar or similar Estimating tools preferred
Ability to work in a multi-functional team
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills required
Ability to communicate at all levels and to work well within a team environment with minimal supervision
Ability to travel to other project locations – North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas
Flexibility with relocation for assigned projects
