This position is accountable for performing credit/appraisal, analysis and underwriting/risk management decision on all first mortgage and equity loans products. Underwrites loans and renders loan decisions in conformity with established Board approved credit union policies, state/federal regulations, investor guidelines, private mortgage insurers, and VA and FHA requirements. Provides underwriting on conventional, VA, and FHA products, automated underwriting validation, portfolio land loans, single-closing construction-to-permanent, two-closing construction-to-permanent, home equity, and home equity line of credit loans. Underwrites and renders decisions on first mortgage loans and equity loans in which the borrower is self-employed and requires experience analyzing complex income tax returns and documents including but not limited to IRS Forms 1040, 1120, 1120s, and 1065; and Profit and Loss statements. Performs credit/appraisal analysis and approves/declines loan applications for all conventional residential loan originations, ensuring compliance with credit union Board approved policies, state/federal regulations, and investor criteria. Demonstrates proficiency in reviewing and interpreting appraisal reports in accordance with state/federal regulations, NCUA guidelines, secondary market guidelines, and the Uniform Standard Practices and Procedures. Completes any other job related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization's Values.High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years of mortgage lending underwriting experience to include knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, VA, FHA, and automated underwriting or a minimum of seven years of mortgage loan processing experience for conventional and government loans. Prefer knowledge of Security Service Federal Credit Union lending policies. Basic knowledge of mortgage origination systems and Fannie Mae DU or Freddie Mac LP automated underwriting systems and Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel. High level of interpersonal skills and ability to perform in a high-volume environment. Analytical and critical thinking skills.
