The Storage and Backup Administrator is expected to run and monitor day to day operations providing multi-level incident/problem management and resolution. Primary responsibilities include working with clients and internal departments to implement and manage backups, perform restores and manage NAS/SAN infrastructure environments. Secondary responsibilities include assisting Data Center team resources with tasks/projects as needed. Provide on-call support for storage and backup issues and issues related to data center operations to include applying troubleshooting techniques and escalating with vendors to create solutions that best meet the needs of business continuity. Responsible for schedule/workload balancing, management of media, including the tape vaulting process and media management related activities. Participate in new software/hardware implementations related to storage, backup-&-recovery and data center projects. Develop and execute new processes and procedures relating to the storage and backup utilities. Develop and administer training documentation relating to the operational functions of storage and backup utilities. Responsibilities Include: Performs maintenance and administration of Cohesity DataProtect appliances and associated technologies. Performs maintenance and administration of HP storage tape libraries and associated technologies. Performs maintenance and administration of Qstar archiving solution and associated technologies. Performs maintenance and administration of Index Engines archiving solution and associated technologies. Works with business units to address daily support issues using ServiceNow ticketing system. Creates and maintains process and procedures run book/SOPs for storage, backup-&-recovery and data center operations. Provides on-call support for storage and backup & recovery operations. Provide support for storage efforts to include configuring backup jobs, archiving and restoring of data, tape swap, remediating security vulnerabilities, vendor management, etc. Provide daily support for O&M related task and efforts to ensure uptime of backup and recovery platform.

Other Job Specific Skills Linux Operating System administration and support. Applies standard methodology, techniques, procedures and criteria. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic/routine system hardware, software or networking related problems. Basic shell scripting and troubleshooting in the areas of BASH or Python. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to non-technical employees. Strong customer service skills. Experience with Red Hat Satellite, VMware (vCenter), or Ansible a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fundamental storage theory (Including but not limited to Cloud, NFS, iSCSI, & FC.) Fundamental backup-&-recovery theory (Including but not limited to RTO and RPO parameters & disaster recovery.) Fundamental infrastructure and system operations knowledge (Including but not limited to network, server, storage, and backup practices.) Experience working with network, server, storage, and backup hardware at the physical layer. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience. 4-7 years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.
