Whataburger franchises are currently undergoing a WIFI network upgrade. This has been optional in the past and post COVID, a surplus of Whataburger franchises are wanting to be added to the corporate stores network. This person will support the project field technicians (outside 3rd party vendor) by ensuring the network is up and running before the field technicians leave the restaurant. Shift: Sunday-Thursday 7pm-6am Description: • Configures network and voice systems to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. • Monitors networks to ensure availability to all system users and perform necessary modifications to support network availability. • Designs, analyzes, and documents network systems/processes. • Serves as a business unit team member and technical leader as appropriate and is responsible for ensuring the satisfactory completion of significant portions of critical work and/or projects. • Responds to on-call pages within predefined SLA's. • (On-call support is assigned to team members on a 1-week rotating schedule.) • Consults with users to determine system, network, and functional specifications • Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. • When problems arise, analyze hardware and software issues, and replace defective components. • Analyzes and documents network systems, networking software, operating system software, and functional specifications. • Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made or where changes will need to be made in the future. • Analyzes and develops security procedures and documentation • Analyzes system software and hardware upgrades including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination to meet functional specifications • Researches recommendations or solutions for upgrades, improvements and strategies to ensure a stable, available, and protected technical infrastructure. • Recommends changes to improve system security, network connections, and network/voice system reliability. • Makes recommendations to control costs. • Develops relationships and partnerships across all business units, emphasizing business unit's functions within the company and business unit's capacity to serve as a productive strategic partner. • Confers with network users about how to solve system problems within timelines assigned. • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with all Company assets. • Responsible for identifying opportunities to conserve financial resources in day-to-day activities and planning.Skills:Troubleshooting, fortinet, meraki, Cisco switches, Cisco routersTop Skills Details:1- Network hardware and software work experience, including Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, and Cradlepoint 2- Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions from a networking standpoint 3- Strong communication and troubleshooting skills 4. Nice to have: Celuar or LTE data connectivity experience - Back up data transport Candidates should be able to hit the ground running and have experience working in a networking environment supporting Cisco equipment, routing/switching, installing new hardware and troubleshooting issues. Experience with Cradlepoint devices would be great. Good communication skills are needed since this person will work w1:1 with field techs for several hours at a time when working through each store's upgrade. Candidates must be able to follow the clear step by step plans Whataburger has created and be able to diagnose and resolve issues the field techs face. This project is all done overnight to minimize impact to the restaurants operations and revenue. Enviroment: LAN/WAN integration, TCP/IP, Cradlepoint switching, Cisco routing, Meraki / Fortinet WIFI, networking Nice to have: Cellular Network connectivityAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Skills: • 3-5 years of Network and/or voice engineering or closely related experience • Network routing, switching, and firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Cradlepoint) • Advanced proficiency in Network & Server OS (Microsoft), Cisco network computing (LAN/WAN) • A thorough understanding of LAN/WAN integration, TCP/IP, switching and routing is essential • Advanced professional or theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities • Ability to prepare and present information to guests, more senior associates, vendors and management with sufficient notice and preparation • Network Monitoring Software • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment • 2 -3 years related WAN experience, preferably in retail, restaurant industry • Ability to communicate well with the restaurant staff and experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, vendors, and co-workers • Ability to work in a team environment • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint • Proficiency in JD Edwards preferred • Proficiency in virtualization technologies • Proficiency in security technologies • Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures • Intermediate ability to delegate tasks and get work done through othersExperience Level:Expert LevelAbout TEKsystems:We're partners in transformation.
