Contract - Handy-person / Construction Crew Member (New Braunfels)

Job title - Contract- Handy-Person/ Construction Crew Member

Schedule - Tuesday through Saturday up to 40 hours a week (Subject to change)

Duties and tasks will be responsible for:

· Support the entire building of new home and home repair process

· Convey a professional and positive image of Comal County Habitat for Humanity through knowledge of our mission, core values, adherence to safety, and personal attitude

· Project Management: Go shopping, stock the necessary supplies and materials on site for daily activities, consistently coordinate with vendors, subcontractors and permit inspectors

· Create a punch list to be used for final inspection of the homeowner with new build and home repair

· Assure that assigned project sites are safe, clean, and orderly at the end of each work day

· Attend community, career and volunteer fairs with Habitat staff to share information with attendees about what we do and how to get involved

· Perform as a volunteer crew leader as needed; supervise and train volunteers and follow the safety standards

· Assist in loading building materials and supplies for the build days

· Develops scope of work, writes specifications for and monitors contract work in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing and mechanical system repairs

· Monitors purchasing and delivery of materials

· Must have ability to supervise and train volunteers and follow the safety standards

Requirements:

· Potential to lift 75lbs incessantly; control, drive and operate power tools

· Driver's License with good records and ability to drive affiliate construction vehicle and box truck

· Must be comfortable passing a Background Check and a Drug Test

· 1 year of Warehouse or construction experience is preferred

· Professional attitude, appearance and Customer service

· High School diploma or degree is preferred

· A second language is highly desirable, with preferred languages being Spanish

· Work is performed in a wide variety of settings and environmental conditions

· Work is conducted in non-climate controlled warehouse, settings and temperatures varies

· Must be 21 and older
