Job Purpose/Summary:
Duties would include managing/leading an installation crew that is performing tasks in all areas and aspects of timber and general framing. The aptitude to work with tools, timbers, and materials are essential along with the capacity to lift and manipulate timbers. Work will include cutting mortise and tenon joints, surfacing and finishing timbers, moving material with the forklift, and traveling to help erect the frames in both Residential and Commercial job sites. Construct and repair timber frames/packages, rafters, posts, beams, and trusses. Recruits, instructs and inspires the installation Crew Chiefs and members. Analyzes and examines the progress of projects on site.
Principal/Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
Manage/Lead the traveling crew to erect and install post & beam and timber frames both in Residential and Commercial Job sites.
Review drawings and hardware lists before installation date with Project Managers
Managing project schedule, equipment rentals for each project
Visit job sites prior to installation and coordinate appropriately with contractors and Project Managers
Responsible for onsite safety and OSHA Compliance
Review what part of the project should be sent/installed to the job site first
Provide back up and aid to shop/production when not traveling
Assist in project takeoffs and design reviews for projects when applicable.
Ensuring installations meet or exceed quality expectations
Working with power tools (skill saw, belt sander, power drill, etc.)
Working with traditional hand tools (chisel, mallets, etc.)
Ability to effectively read plans and details
Provide daily inputs and creative suggestions regarding the installation methods and procedures
Manage traveling crew’s time on a daily basis
Minimal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Experience in residential and commercial construction
Capable of using power tools with confidence
Carpenter, Framer, or Woodworking experience
Ability in problem-solving
Ability to travel with installation crews
Professional with a positive attitude
Self-motivated and confident.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
