BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Spring, TX is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to assist with pack/prep in our Surgery department.This is a full-time opportunity working Monday - Friday day shift hours.Are you self-driven, dependable and knowledgeable?Do you demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in a team atmosphere?Do you crave a dynamic and rewarding setting?Then we want to hear from you!Our Surgery Pack/Prep veterinary assistants have knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and operating room preparation and radiology set up. The Pack/Prep Assistant maintains efficient surgical flow by ensuring surgical rooms and materials are appropriately sterilized and set ahead of procedures. Good communication skills and compassion are necessary. Surgery pack/prep experience is highly preferred.
As a BluePearl Surgery Pack/Prep Veterinary Assistant, you will
Setup surgery prep with appropriate induction and surgery prep supplies.
Setup surgery suites with appropriate instruments for each surgery.
Assisting Tech with sedation and intubation of patient for surgery.
Setting up patient’s kennel with heat support and necessary fluid pumps, as well as setting up X-ray if post-op RADs as needed.
Cleaning surgery suite according to protocol, cleaning prep area, as well as setting up for additional procedures if any.
Restocking of Surgery suites, Surgery Prep area and Tech station.
Responding to surgeon’s requests for equipment, instruments or supplies.
Ordering and maintaining inventory of screws, plates and other consumables.
Occasionally scrubbing in and assisting the surgeon.
EO sterilizer certification to properly operate EO gas sterilizer.
