Performs assigned clerical work such as document processing and recordkeeping, assisting in the daily operations of the Medical Examiner's Office. This work may be varied and may involve simple analysis, problem solving and clerical skills.POSTING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME

AFTER A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVEDEssential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs clerical duties such as classifying, consolidating, summarizing, sorting, filing, and distributing documents and information.

Makes copies as required.

Utilizes computer, calculator, typewriter, and other standard office equipment to record, store, and retrieve information.

Compiles various regular reports and/or correspondence in accordance with standard operating procedures as required.

Codes and binds charts daily.

Answers customer questions and e-mail requests throughout each day via telephone, e-mail, and personal contact with customer. Returns voicemail and e-mail messages.

Prepares records for permanent storage which includes pulling records, boxing them and entering information into the document management system.

Utilizes the document management system to research records requested for release and prints records for release.

Prepares and makes charts and maintains case folders for all incoming cases.

Scans, uploads, distributes, and retrieves documents and records.

Assumes duties of the Records Manager in his/her absence.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years of general clerical experience required, preferably in a medical environment, and one (1) year preparing folders for filing of hard copy documents required.

Must be familiar with medical terminology, preparing electronic files, and filing records in a web-based information system.

Must be able to work with physicians and hospital staff.

Must have computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially word processing and spreadsheet.

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processingTarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment.
