Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, Emergency/Trauma Radiology - Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging, McGovern Medical SchoolTexas Medical Center-Houston, TexasFacultyMcGovern Medical School at UTHealthRequisition #: 200000NDThe Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging at McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) is seeking a board-certified/board eligible Emergency and Trauma radiologist to become the sixth member of the Night Team. The faculty appointment will be at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level depending on the candidate’s experience.The Emergency and Trauma Imaging (ETI) Section in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (DII) employs 10 full-time emergency and trauma radiologists, five on the day and evening team and five on the night team. The section is expanding to accommodate growth in both of our emergency centers. The ETI section provides 24/7 coverage at the Red Duke Trauma Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, one of the nation’s busiest Level I Trauma Centers, and LBJ Hospital, which has a Level III Trauma Center and a complex and interesting emergency medicine practice.The Night Team provides on-site eight or nine hour coverage at each hospital every night.Position Key Accountabilities:

Physician will provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students

and residents in hospital settings

Developing and sustaining an environment in the patient care units that

support excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care throughassessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and standardsthat support positive patient care outcomes to include excellent risk adjustedoutcomes.

Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process

consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing andimplementing unit specific standards, policies and procedures that guide andsupport the provision of care and services; continuously assesses andimproves assigned departments' performance while enhancing service

Participating in and/or chairs committees, work groups, and meetings at as

appropriate

Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars,

workshops, in-services, current literature and professional affiliations to keepabreast of latest trends in fields of expertise; supporting and promotingeducation and researchQualifications:Candidates must have a demonstrated career interest in Emergency and Trauma Imaging, must have multimodality clinical skills, and must be able to thrive on the night shift in a fast-paced emergency center environment. The successful candidate must remain calm under pressure and demonstrate the ability to work quickly while maintaining high accuracy. A proven track record of one-on-one resident supervision is essential. Fellowship training and/or prior attending experience in Emergency and Trauma Imaging is preferred.Applicants should have graduated from an ACGME-accredited Radiology residency program (or equivalent). Candidates must be ABR certified or ABR eligible. The position involves teaching of residents and fellows.
