Licensed Vocational Nurse I - Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addictions (TMC)Texas Medical Center-Houston, TexasNursingMcGovern Medical School at UTHealthRequisition #: 1900035LUTHealth Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is hiring a Licensed Vocational Nurse I to join the team of professionals with the Center for Neurobehavioral Research of Addictions (CNRA). The mission of the CNRA is to develop evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders using decisions informed by behavioral neurosciences.CNRA also offers an outpatient clinic providing treatment for drug addiction, including smoking, alcoholism, use of illegal substances and abuse of prescription medications.Position Summary:Provides paraprofessional assistance to medical professionals to ensure quality patient care. Provides medical care to patients not requiring the specialization and/or skill of a professional nurse.Position Key Accountabilities:

Assists

medical doctors and registered nurses with various medical techniques.

Medical

evaluations and screening procedures including vitals collection, EKGs, blooddraws, TB skin tests, injections, subject/patient education, and monitoring formedication side effects,

Dispenses

medication in accord with protocol requirements as well as federal and stateregulatory requirement.

Advises

patients on care of incisions, medication and other simple health care problems.

Stocks

examination rooms, sterilizes instruments, and prepares patients forexams.

Performs

routine laboratory procedures under direction of supervisor and assists inmaintenance of equipment.

Communicates

regularly with medical director and pharmacists, and as needed with otherresearch staff.

Data

collection & data entry and documentation & reporting.

Must

be able to respond to emergency situations.

Other duties as assigned.
