Cloud Network Engineer (Automation)The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our client, a world leader in the oil and gas industry.This is a 12-month contract with possibility of renewal. The position is based in The Woodlands, TX.Job Descriptions:You will be part of the Network Cloud Connectivity team with global responsibility in building software that manages and monitors one of the world’s largest and most complex enterprise networks. Our client’s goal is to become the premier infrastructure platform in the industry – achieving this goal requires high-leverage, scalable software systems. Our client’s IT success depends on their world-class network infrastructure, and their network depends on the Network Program teams. You will work in a flexible, fast-paced, collaborative team environment.You will:
Responsible for the automation of deploying network infrastructure across all cloud network fabrics that support various businesses.
Deploy, scale and automate network across multiple global cloud providers. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
Solving problems at scale
Automate and innovate, discussing and designing solutions that will solve the business client’s problems.
You code the infrastructure and automate workflow and execution of deployments on a global scale.
Choose the best tool for the problem at hand and not just push for one technology at hand.
Craft of software engineering and infrastructure as code is about writing code right the first time, because you believe code reviews and automated testing are not chores, they’re a core part of writing great software.
Not throw your code over the wall. You launch it, own it, support it and make it incrementally better for the benefit of your customers.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
Must have network experience in cloud technologies and solutions and with cloud mindset.
Strong knowledge of cloud connectivity and network infrastructures.
Proficient at designing reliable, secure, global public cloud-based networks
Must have experience in Object Oriented Programming (Python, Java or C), scripting (Python or Powershell) AND automation tools (Ansible or Puppet preferred – but not a must).
Experience working on IP networking technologies, routers, switches and the application of routing protocols. (BGP)
Recent experience with distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, and web and other network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS)
Experience with REST API development and consumption.
Solid problem solving and coding skills.
Understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT
Strong unit test and debugging skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
A team player, experienced in working in intercultural and geographically dispersed teams
