As a Maintenance Worker you will be responsible for providing maintenance support.ResponsibilitiesMECHANICAL: Performs a variety of automotive, pump, chiller/heater, generator and equipment maintenance and repairs. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required, cleans, replaces, or makes adjustment to such parts as fuel, electrical, brakes, steering, regulators, water/fuel pumps, carburetors, cooling systems and attachments to equipment. Performs minor tune-ups; replaces mufflers, gaskets, shocks, bearings, and oil seals, etc. FACILITIES MAINTENANCE: Performs routine maintenance and service on water and electrical systems beyond established meters. Performs carpentry work necessary for maintenance of buildings and other structures or facilities. This work includes repairs to and installation of dry walls, panels and doors; repairs to roofs and windows; and, construction or wooden items such as storage cabinets, shelves, displays and signs. Tools used include power saws, hand saws, drills, belt sanders, tapes, squares, hammers, levels, etc.Applies interior and exterior paints, stains, and varnishes to wood, masonry, dry wall stucco, asphalt, metal or other surfaces. Thins, stirs, and mixes coating materials according to specific directions. Employee uses standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. Prepares surfaces by scraping, sand blasting, sanding, wire brushing, or using chemical paint removers. Ensures that surfaces painted are fully coated, protected, and that finish meets surface protection requirements. Incumbent must frequently work from ladders, on scaffolds, in open fields, or in trenches in stretched, cramped, or awkward positions. When operating heavy equipment, the incumbent is under a great deal of strain by constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, legs, and torso, and by the vibration and jerking of equipment. Lifting up to 50 pounds is required. The work is performed indoors and outdoors. Occasional travel for training and temporary duty at other stations is required. Work areas can be dusty, dirty, greasy, noisy, or bad smelling. The incumbent is exposed to eye hazards, and there is potential for electric shock, cuts, bruises, burns, and broken bones. Incumbent is also exposed to fumes, heat, smoke sparks, jolting machinery, poisons, pesticides, herbicides, chemical solvents, chemicals and petroleum products.
