- Provide leadership in the accomplishment of the company and departmental goals.
- Provide guidance in establishing accounting processes and procedures, as well as internal controls for American Income Life/National Income Life including American Income Life foreign branches.
- Oversight of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for AIL and the consolidated financial statements of the AIL group of companies, including the foreign branches. This includes preparation of the company's monthly internal management reports and additional reports required for SEC forms 10-Q and 10K.
- Oversight of accounting for reinsurance for external and inter-company treaties.
- Oversight of daily operations of the General Accounting department of AIL including design and oversight of implementation of new systems and process improvements.
- Maintenance of operating policies and procedures, including designing and documenting detailed process flows.
- Ensure Financial Reporting and General Accounting positions are adequately staffed each day and department functions and responsibilities are completed.
- Ensure Financial Reporting and General Accounting staff are properly trained and appropriately developed for career advancement.
- Provide senior management with information as requested.
- Review and ensure monthly GAAP financials are issued.
- Prepare operating results for Sr. Management.
- Review all operating and analysis reports.
- Prepare acquisition expense reports for Actuarial and Sr. Management.
- Review and monitor reinsurance statements, payments and collections.
- Ensure compliance with SOX/COSO reporting requirements.
- Review quarterly Statutory statements and premium tax returns sent to various states.
- Review various reports required for consolidation for Globe Life Inc.
- Review IFRS reports and ensure proper disclosures for Canadian and New Zealand branch filings.
- Prepare adhoc reports and status updates as requested by CFO and CAO.
- Review annual statutory statements and premium tax returns and approve.
- Review year-end reports required for consolidation by Globe Life Inc.
- Coordinate year-end audits, GAAP, IFRS & Statutory, with independent auditors.
- Complete any special reports or assignments as requested by senior management.
- Good communication, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Extensive accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- GAAP, Statutory and IFRS knowledge.
- Insurance accounting knowledge.
- Excel and other Microsoft software.
- Workiva reporting tool.
- Bachelor and/or Master's degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant
- Extensive background in insurance accounting and financial reporting
- Insurance accounting experience
- Foreign exchange and foreign regulatory reporting
