- Verify and load specific inserts in machine hoppers in the proper sequence and condition to insure accurate letter packages and smooth operation of the machine per supervisor's instructions.
- Must match the correct USPS tray label to the tray.
- Must hand insert the USPS tray label in the slot at the end of the tray and remove old USPS tray label if necessary.
- Sort final inserted packages by zip, carrier route and/or tray number shown on piece and place in proper tray.
- May insert finished tray into USPS sleeve and strap if necessary.
- Maintain a constant check on quality areas of all jobs which includes general appearance of mail meets minimum standards (clean, sealed properly, and address showing through window).
- Quickly correct routine machine jams and operation problems as needed.
- Must discern if problems indicated on diagnostic screen for troubleshooting can independently be resolved.
- If unable to resolve problems must report machine operation problems immediately to Machine Service Technician or Supervisor.
- Must keep work area clean and hazard free at all times.
- May instruct or train other Inserter Operators.
- Shall understand and adhere to all safety and quality procedures.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching.
- Frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds.
- Requires above average manual dexterity.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience not required but previous light machine operation helpful.
