Schwab Technology Services group is seeking a Distinguished Engineer - Chief Cloud Architect who will work with a team of cloud architects to continue evolving Schwab's Cloud Strategy. This role will lead and coordinate the creation of architectures for cloud enablement, strategy and execution planning across several Schwab technology teams and drive Cloud Strategy from within Schwab Office of the CTO (OCTO). This role is a leadership position within the Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture team representing the Office of the CTO, an organization chartered to establish technology governance, standards, practices, and strategy for the firm, enabling thousands of technologists to better serve Schwab's vast and diverse client base around the world. - Demonstrable industry leading experience implementing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS workloads in public, private and hybrid cloud deployment models.
- Extensive background working with cloud technologies and strategies including transformation planning and execution.
- Extensive experience working with cloud native hosting solutions such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Containers, Docker, K8S, Infrastructure as Code and technologies from Amazon, Azure and Google.
- Deep understanding of Infrastructure and Platform Automation technology products such as HashiCorp Suite, SaltStack, Puppet, Ansible, and Chef technologies
- Experience successfully delivering cloud-based solutions on Google Cloud Platform, Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Essential knowledge and experience with core infrastructure technologies including: Networking, Servers, Storage, Operating Systems (Windows Server and Linux), Virtualization, Databases and related technologies. Preference for industry board and standard committee (IEEE etc.) membership driving technology both externally and internal to a firm.
- Familiarity with Cloud compliance, quality and contracting FEDRAMP, CSA, SoC, NIST, ISO.
- Significant experience with IT Strategy and Technology Service Management
- Expertise and background working with standard multi-tier platform architectures .NET, Java, message queuing, streaming, RDBMS, and file and object-based architectures
- Strong understanding and knowledge of industry technology standards, compliance activities and experience working with audit and regulatory bodies
- Skilled working with multiple vendors and business groups and ability to lead large efforts with many stakeholder groups from Proof of Concept and through development into Production implementations.
- Comprehensive process management creation and maturity experience within a Service Management organization primarily with an AGILE, LEAN or SaFE driven methodology.
- Extensive ROI and Business Case development experience - the experience necessary to be able to confidently predict and forecast possible outcomes
- Prefers experience working with or in financial services or other highly regulated industries
