The Retirement Business Services Technology (RBS) team provides product and application-based design, development, testing, deployment, and production support to business units. Particularly in support of web, mobile, trustee, custodial, recordkeeping and compliance products for Schwab as a third party provider of retirement product and compliance offerings.

This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute in a highly collaborative culture and agile team environment. The ability to deliver innovative, low cost, reliable solutions is key to success in this role. Our Software Development Engineers are driven to learn, grow, and continuously contribute to evolving the Schwab experience and technology.

What you are good at

  • Review requirements and technical design documents to create detailed test plans, test scenarios and acceptance criteria, and coordinate in establishing the use case scenarios for business users.
  • Design and maintain an automation framework supporting multiple applications across multiple platforms
  • Setting up, maintaining, and executing the Performance Automation framework and tests using Gatling, LoadRunner, etc.
  • Mentor and coach associate level Software Quality Engineers on Automation tools/ standard methodologies
  • Use Bamboo/Jenkins to help in continuous integration and deployment for completing regression tests.
  • Fixes business, production issues, and suggest opportunities for improvement.
  • Report defects with development engineers (cross team collaboration) in resolution of problems and participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Work with other specialists, Architecture, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and alignment to development principles and product goals

What you have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field OR related practical experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Test Automation frameworks and programming technologies like Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL and test frameworks & tools (Cucumber, Mabl, Appium, Gatling, Postman, Mocha, Jasmine, Selenium, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of proper automation testing coverage (unit, functional, regression, cross browser/device)
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, Bamboo, Confluence)
  • Proven track record to identify/debug issues found using monitoring tools like SPLUNK, GINSU, etc.
  • Experience in an Agile work environment (traditional and hybrid)
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to technically communicate with Application Architects, Development, QA peers, and Business partner
  • Must be a critical thinker and solutions-oriented analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience testing backend APIs and hybrid/native mobile applications across browsers/devices
  • Cloud Computing technology experience
  • Experience with TDD & CI/CD practices
  • You're a self-starter with a "can do" attitude who can take ownership of projects and drive them to completion with acute attention to detail (not just what but understanding why part too) and results oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
