Director of Software Engineering Direct Hire Salt Lake City, Utah Salary Target $160k - $170k base salaryJob Description: This role is with a smaller Financial company with a new CxO, and wanting to bring onboard a new Director of Technology. This partnership will help rebuild their technical groups, grow their technical teams, build a cloud go-to strategy, and build new technology best practices. Initially this group is 17 mixed technologists onshore, then may start to build out a nearshore or off-shore technical group to supplement their development efforts in the next year. They are looking for someone who previously came up through software development. There will be times when this is a hands-on technical role. Additionally, you will mentor team leaders to become more efficient. Take the lead on designing and oversee implementing the cloud migration strategy. Mentor teams and build best practices for the software development and deployment environments. Work is onsite 2 days a week mandatory. This allows you to better collaborate with all the other technical groups, and build new strategies. New commercial building which they occupy all of it. Dress Code is business casual. Required Skills:- 5+ years experience directing multiple software development teams
- Experience hiring, firing, performance plans, coaching, mentoring, employee development
- Previous experience as a software developer or software architect
- Familiar with cloud migration strategies, ideally has already planned and been through atleast 1 migration/launch.
- Experience coaching, discussions, and when needed showing others technical aspects of:
- Database queries with T Sql, LINQ, and entity framework
- Dependency injection frameworks
- Design Patterns
- Best practices in software programming
- BS Computer Science, Math, or technical area
- MVVM frameworks
- ASP.NET
- SQL back-end databases and how they be used for solutions delivery to customers
- DevOps / SecOps
- Building CI/CD best practices
- AWS, or Azure
- Experience presenting to executive committee, or board members
- Experience doing project planning strategies, meeting deadlines, assigning resources
