This position is for the AFNWC ICBM Directorate ISC 2.0 project.

  • Oversees planning, staffing, and budgetary matters to ensure timely delivery of contractual commitments to the government
  • Manages all aspects of a major Air Force contracts to include leadership, technical performance, personnel and financial performance
  • May be asked to direct or will direct (depending on seniority) and manage all personnel issues to include interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation and determining proper compensation
  • Organizes and oversees technical performance on the contract and ensure delivery of all required deliverables
  • Communicates daily with peers within the business unit as well as customers, Site Leads and Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to identify and resolve problems and challenges to ensure sound execution of contracted effort to include successfully resolving issues requiring senior level (government and corporate) attention
  • Travels (sometimes frequent) to various program sites as necessary to ensure sound program execution
  • Identifies, develops, and implements efficiencies that enhance productivity and/or reduce overall contract costs to the government
  • Leads, guides and mentors other team members

Qualifications

The Principal Configuration Management Engineer requires:

Principal: BS Degree in an Engineering Management; Systems, Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field + 15 yrs of experience OR MS degree + 12 yrs experience OR PhD Degree + 9 yrs experience

• Extensive knowledge of systems engineering principles as applied to Configuration Management requirements defined in Air Force Regulations and industry standards• Ability to apply CM fundamentals relative to implementation/maintenance of organizational configuration management processes involving Management and Planning, Configuration Identification, Configuration Control, Configuration Status Accounting and Configuration Verification and Audit• Ability to develop concrete action plans to solve problems• Ability to apply precedent to situations, insuring that decisions are consistent and justifiable• Ability to establish performance goals and assess progress toward their achievement • Ability to adjust work operations and program objectives to meet emergencies, changing programs, or production requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice of quality or quantity of work• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing• Depending on level Oversees, reviews or compiles engineering change proposals, design reviews, audits, scheduling, and budgeting.• Depending on level leads development and implementation of computer-based configuration, data management systems and electronic data systems, and electronic data support. • Depending on level leads development and design efforts related to configuration/data management documentation.• Monitoring of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure standards and requirements are being met.• Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.• Depending on level, identifies or reviews requirements and the development and implementation of computer-based configuration, data management systems, and electronic data systems has been satisfied in accordance with law/regulation > Leads tasks and supervises staff in preparing configuration management plans and procedures, performs configuration audits, monitors trouble reports and change requests, evaluates and selects tools to automate the change control process and provides status accounting support. • Conducts analyses of business and user needs, documentation requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications.• Depending on level, assists or oversees development and implementation of new processes.• Depending on level, assists or evaluates, defines, standardizes, and tracks data elements and object names.• Substantial knowledge of system program office and contractor operations and familiarity with the various management and technical disciplines involved, sufficient to enable understanding of technical and procurement terminology and procedures

DESIRED:
  • TS clearance desired• Contractor shall obtain and maintain certifications as required by current versions of AFMAN17-1303, DoDI 8570.01 -M, and other applicable laws and regulations• Professional Engineering License desired• Systems Engineering Certification desired• Other relevant core and advanced certifications as established/required per local, national and international industry standards or as necessitated by performance expectations associated with level of appointment
  • Advanced abilities in Unix and Linux and a solid understanding of Microsoft Office are desireable
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and configuration management systems helpful
  • Experience working with digital data and helping users navigate complex applications is desireable
