NASA has developed the “Exploration Campaign” that includes steps for the development of the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway. Jim Bridenstine, NASA Administrator, said: “The glory of the Gateway is that it’s not just for the moon. In future years, it is the best point from which to go deeper.” The first element of The Gateway is the Power Propulsion Element (PPE) and we need your expertise to deliver amazing new technologies to our customers. The PPE program is looking to build a core team of highly motivated engineers excited to be working in a fast pace, dynamic environment. This is a rare opportunity for you to help NASA meet the challenges of the first step in achieving that “long-term presence at the moon” and the stepping point for human missions to Mars.This Systems Engineering Manager will support the Weapon System Integration Contract (WSIC) as a part of the ICBM and Strategic Systems (I&SS) directorate. This Systems Engineering Manager will hire, train, develop, and maintain the WSIC staff to execute program needs. Responsibilities include managing Systems Engineering resources for the program, mentoring and coaching, year-end evaluations, and the maintenance of internal processes and tools. This position will also provide oversight and support to critical I&SS Engineering skill development, which includes critical Nuclear Systems Skills - Nuclear Surety/Safety, Nuclear Hardness, Reliability, EMI/EMC, and Model Based Systems Engineering. The successful candidate will have demonstrated LM Full Spectrum Leadership experience.This position will also support the program technically as the Systems Engineering and Integration IPT lead. The candidate will lead the Systems Engineering IPT, from architecture and requirements development through weapons system integration, deployment and sustainment. The candidate will represent Lockheed Martin in a highly customer facing role, representing the program at the SEIT Subgroup, PMRs and other program related meetings. Limited travel will be required.The desired candidate will possess:- Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and teamwork with internal/external customers- Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment- Demonstrated ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with team members.Basic Qualifications:- Broad experience of the Systems Engineering life cycle processes and tools-Full Spectrum leadership- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, principles and/or tools- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project)- Prior experience as a technical or functional lead, formal or informal role- US Citizenship with DoD secret security clearanceDesired Skills:- Experience with US Air Force Weapons Systems-Prior functional management experience- Customer interaction and familiarity with the US Air Force and DOE laboratories- Experience with Model Based Engineering processes and tools, to include Rhapsody, Cameo System Modeler, SysML or similar- Experience with proposal preparation and negotiation- Knowledge of program management, finance, contracts, Earned Value management and Demonstrated business acumenBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.QualificationsLockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
