Network EngineerLocation: Orem, UT6 Month Contract-to-Hire ABOUT US Our Client is a software development company that designs, develops, and tests high end stock market trading software for hedge fund traders, brokers, and portfolio managers. The Client product supports several asset types including, but not limited to, equities, futures, and options. We facilitate trading across the globe and have data centers on the east coast and in Europe and Asia. JOB SUMMARY Our Client is seeking a Network Engineer with experience supporting a world-wide network in a redundant environment with multiple "hot/hot datacenters dealing with extremely large volumes of data. Candidates should have experience dealing with 10Gb+ connectivity and failover redundancy to maintain uptime to 4-9's. This role will work closely with the Principal Network Engineer in all decisions relating to the design, deployment and support of the production network environment including routing, switching, firewalls and load-balancers. Will need experience maintaining, supporting, and configuring Palo Alto firewall networks.The selected candidate for this role will have experience dealing in similar environments previously and prove themselves to be an effective team player who can work collaboratively with others. They will display a proven ability to stay current with technological advancements and how they have been successful previously anticipating problems, digging in to figure things out and maintain uptime. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Support and manage the firm's PKI and security certificate infrastructure
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
- Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
- Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
- Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
- Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases
- Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls
- Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers
- 5+ years of recent experience as a network engineer
- Experience with IP Multicasting including PIM and IGMP
- Experience with F5 load balancers
- Experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms
- Good understanding of current PKI technologies and their future direction
- Understanding of IP routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
- Working knowledge of Linux (Redhat/CentOS)
- Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco ASA and Cisco FWSM firewalls
- Experience with log management / log analysis applications (I.e. Splunk, ELK stack)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in Banking or Financial Industry is a plus
