Job Summary:

The Cloud Functional Analyst 5 is a contract, senior-level functional analyst focused on providing cloud technology solutions. This position analyzes business requirements, cloud services capabilities, and provides architectural solutions using cloud services in either AWS or Azure. The scope includes analyzing both existing on-prem applications/technologies and preparing proposed cloud/hybrid solutions. This position may engage with all departments of the Church and with a broad array of applications. This position works with the Cloud Solutions Architecture team in the Cloud Enablement portfolio within ICS. The Functional Analyst is an assigned member of a Project Team within a portfolio.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with the Cloud Enablement Team to represent project requirements related to cloud computing architecture.
  • Works closely with the Cloud Solutions Architect and to utilize standards and implements processes related to SaaS/PaaS cloud architecture.
  • Focuses on cloud services architecture costs/benefit analysis to determine technical, operational and financial solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills in interactions with clients, end users, developers and others throughout the design process
  • Exceptional ability to create and share a vision, build and maintain relationships, advise and counsel with all levels of the organization
  • Leads in functional testing and validation to ensure that the user experience of the product meet the original intent and is of the highest possible quality
  • Proven ability to objectively identify problems and accurately pinpoint their root cause
  • Proven ability to research and understand a customer's needs, problems, and potential design constraints
  • Successfully demonstrate the ability to instruct others about engagement process and cloud solutions using standard and approved patterns.
  • May act in a liaison capacity with other divisions and departments
  • Evaluates team processes and recommends changes in procedures, comment templates, etc.
  • Operates with considerable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision
  • Leads efforts to elicit, represent and communicate current and future state of applications with written deliverables, diagrams, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.

Qualifications: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
Work Experience:
  • 10 years professional experience in technology related fields
  • Proven experience in managing engagements, implementing best practices, and driving progress to deliver solution in a timely manner.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to consult in cloud technologies, including authorization, compute, storage, databases, messaging, server less, networking, security, BI, CDN, containers, etc.
  • Strong ability to derive cost models from solutions architectures.
  • Experience implementing solutions within AWS or Azure.
  • The ideal candidate must be agile and dynamic to address changing processes, environments, and technologies.
  • Must be proficient in Lucid chart or Microsoft Visio to create diagrams using standard templates, stencils/shapes/icons. System diagrams are a major deliverable of this position.
  • Microsoft Excel to analyze data and create cost models to control architectures. Cost models are a major deliverable of this position.
  • Microsoft OneNote, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint to clearly document and present analysis and proposals.
  • Microsoft Teams to communicate via video/chat and create project repositories.
  • Proven knowledge of requirement elicitation and requirement driven process and best practice
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical and operational application functionality
  • Broad business acumen with transferable skill sets across industries/portfolios
  • Proven exceptional and detail-oriented written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • General knowledge of processes and methods (i.e. Agile, Scrum)
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge and application in all the following competencies and expert in at least two:
    • Technical Analysis
    • AWS or Azure Cloud Services
    • On-prem Infrastructure & Cloud Services Cost Analysis
    • Systems Function Elicitation/Analysis
    • Business Analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Windows or Linux systems, application development and DevOps.
  • Visual Studio with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
