Information Security Engineer 2 12-24 month contractRiverton, Utah Job Summary: This is a contract position that functions as an oversight engineer for the organization.This role works to improve and maintain security infrastructure while adhering to Church policy. This position may work on initiatives involving internal and external compliance, risk, vulnerability and threat monitoring and assessments. This position works under limited supervision.This role ensures that information security controls are properly implemented, monitored, and maintained to protect organizational data and systems. This individual assists the business in defining objectives, processes, and measurements. This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel. Responsibilities:- Function as an oversight engineer
- Implement tools and processes that support information security initiatives
- Participate in the development and refinement of Information Security programs
- Develop and maintain documentation for security systems and procedures
- Participate in the evaluation, selection, testing and implementation of security-focused products and services
- Organize tactical projects assigned to clarify and respond to identified security risks across technical domains
- Execute established security practices with consistency and discipline
- Collaborate with engineers in other groups to implement standardized practices and follow routine process to promote secure systems
- Research and correct new or unusual security configurations and implementations as identified by intelligence, analysts or monitoring
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
- 3 years of experience in security, privacy, business continuity, compliance or related field; or 2 years relevant work experience and 1+ of the following provable expertise and skills in the following areas: attacker tactics for both enterprise and web systems, incident handling, Continuous Monitoring, Intrusion detection, ADV. Network Forensics, and Incident Response, Host Forensics and Malware, represented by industry standard recognized certificates, i.e. SANS, EC Council, etc.
- Network knowledge (subnets, etc.)
- Firewall understanding
- Understanding of Splunk
- Good professional written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to assist with the design and implementation of security controls that meet business operational needs
- Ability to successfully collaborate with a team
