Position Summary

As a Director of Engineering - Analytics, you will lead a group of high-performing engineers, data scientists, and managers who are passionate about problem solving, technology, and innovative product development. You will work with our analytics agile teams as they deliver analytical insights across multiple channels to enable financial institutions to make better, faster, and safer lending decisions. Your expertise and leadership will guide the teams in providing relevant insights at the right moment while ensuring accuracy, stability, security, and speed. You will also help shape the future of nCino by pushing yourself and the department to continuously find ways to improve and innovate our analytics capabilities, processes, and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Management to identify critical business questions and data needs, assess opportunities, assess technical needs and opportunities, and solve problems with creativity and quality
  • Evangelize and educate the Product Development & Engineering department and the company on best practices around analytics, data science, and data engineering
  • Manage a team of engineers and managers by modeling desired behavior, resolving conflicts, and providing open channels of communication and regular feedback on performance
  • Establish schedule and quality expectations for product with a focus on meeting future needs; ensure that all direct and indirect reports clearly understand the expectations and have access to training, tools, etc. that they need to meet them
  • Maintain and strengthen nCino's award-winning culture by promoting our core values and our commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration; help identify and address cultural risks and champion new cultural initiatives across the department
  • Ensure that our recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding practices enable us to provide a skilled and diverse workforce capable of meeting company roadmap goals

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
  • 12+ years functional experience with 4+ years management experience or combination of experience, education, and extraordinary performance
  • Hands-on experience with: large data sets, multi-channel data sources, and data pipelines; industry-leading analytics approaches and tools; exploratory data analysis using big data technologies and languages
  • Proven success as a coach and mentor of technical staff and technical managers
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to travel when required

Desired:
  • Prior experience at a financial services company or fintech
  • Significant professional experience as a participant in an Agile development environment
  • Experience with the Salesforce Platform
