Enterprise Desktop EngineerEnterprise Desktop EngineerLocation: Salt Lake City, UTThe Enterprise Desktop Engineer will be responsible for the review and engineering of emerging/innovative technologies for CXone's end user computing. The primary focus is on planning, design and transition of the end device environments. They include deployment, management, security and support of the managed endpoints. Additional responsibilities include training and mentoring staff.

Financial Responsibilities:
  • Ensures access to systems is accurate and according to Job Descriptions.
  • Ensures equipment is accounted for, purchased and disposed of according to company policy.
  • Provide quotes for purchasing desktops, laptops, computer parts and software.
  • Computer and software purchasing.

Major Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Acts as an internal consultant role across the enterprise providing an engineering perspective and vision, in addition to deep analysis and problem-solving where needed.
  • Identifies important potential technologies and approaches to address current and future needs within the enterprise, and evaluate their applicability and fit, as well as leading the definition of standards and best-practices for their use.
  • Is able to provide hands-on application of technologies and processes to support proof-of-concept development, review of critical systems and training to other teams within the organization.
  • May be required to function as a technical lead on projects of any size as necessary.
  • Communicates detailed technical information in both written and verbal form across a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, users, developers, project management, and other architects.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, customers, vendors, and other parties to understand and develop architectural solutions across the enterprise.
  • Leads and/or facilitates the development of appropriate standards and best practices, in addition to the paths by which they may be achieved and monitored.
  • Develops a sound understanding of existing systems and processes, their strengths and limitations, and the current and future needs of the environment in which they exist.
  • Provides vision on how they may be improved and developed.
  • Understands and explains the interactions between systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluates the impact of changes or additions to the environment.
  • Participates in the evaluation and/or selection of solutions or products, including requirements definition, vendor and product evaluations.
  • Acts as a local expert for areas of domain expertise.
  • Acts as an escalation point for technical teams and provides hands on expertise.
  • Applies strong analysis, research and problem-solving skills across a wide array of systems and situations, including those which may be unfamiliar, in order to address critical issues.

Required Education, Systems, Experience, and Specific Job Related Skills

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field. Work experience can be used in lieu of degree.

Preferred Certifications:
  • MCSA and VCA6-DCVSystem(s) Rights Administration rights on all corporate servers including:
    • Billing Building Security Financial Test
    • Development Web
    • FTP Database Sales and marketing

Experience Required:
  • 6+ years providing end user workstation support and/or desktop engineering
  • 6+ years deploying and supporting Windows workstations in an Active Directory environment
  • 6+ years working with end user workstation management platforms such as Microsoft SCCM or similar products
  • 4+ years desktop transformation and Messaging environment implementations
  • 4+ years Troubleshooting and enabling configuration management with Group Policy Objects (GPO)
  • 4+ years working with Messaging Technologies (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Office 365)
  • 6+ years working with collaboration and End User Productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Skype for Business, Jabber, Cisco Unified Communications)
  • 2+ years Virtualization of desktops (VMware View, Citrix Xen
  • Desktop, Microsoft RDS), virtualization of applications (VMware ThinApp, Citrix XenApp, MS App-V), thin computing technologies (Terminal Services, Citrix, Wyse, VMWare) and workspace management solutions (AppSense, RES)
  • 2+ years using scripting technologies such as VBScript, PowerShell or AutoIT Script Experience in an environment requiring Change Control
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of current industry protocols, standards/ best practices and technologies for end device management including mobility
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)Experience working within a team of IT professionals
  • taking and following direction and completing tasks and assignments in a timely manner with a positive attitude
  • Ability to adapt and work with people across multiple sites
  • Ability to constantly adapt to a fast paced, ever changing technology landscape filled with smart phones, virtual desktops, and a wide array of desktop computing hardware/software

Experience Preferred:
  • Configuration, management and design of HP/Compaq environments
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Unify phone switch experience
  • Knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 switching
