Join our team as a SQL Database Expert and use your top-tier design and development skills to create and maintain high-performance databases and data structures. Collaborate with developers and users to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical leadership in database design and development matters. As a valuable member of our team, you will share your knowledge by training other team members and developing database best practices. This role reports directly to the Director of Development Operations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Independently design and develop secure, high-performance databases to support our company's operations
  • Use your expertise to troubleshoot and diagnose database performance problems quickly and effectively
  • Ensure our databases are maintained optimally, including regular backups, security patches, and software updates
  • Provide data architecture and data administration support to ensure compliance with major browsers and website designs
  • Support programming staff with query optimization, data storage and retention techniques, and general SQL programming practices
  • Proactively identify and mitigate problem areas and develop prototypes and proofs of concept for end users
  • Collaborate with developers and users to define database requirements and provide guidance to less experienced staff
  • Participate in code reviews and perform testing of databases
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to efficiently multitask technical problems and communicate technical concepts effectively to both users and programmers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Frequent computer and telephone use and sitting for long periods of time
  • Occasional travel of less than 25% may be required.
Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration
  • Strong experience with MS SQL Server databases, server-side development, web services, WCF, API, Salesforce/Financial Force integrations and development, SQL, C#, and JavaScript
  • Strong analytical abilities and customer service attitude
  • Proficiency with versioning tools, such as SVN or GIT
