The VP of Data Platform, Strategy, and Engineering will lead the data platform strategy for the business, as well as be hands-on to architect, implement, and manage data platforms, services, and their processes to unlock key insights and capture business opportunities. As a senior data leader, they will be responsible for overseeing a corporate data platform strategy, ensuring the appropriate team members and skills are in place, and executing to enable the data platforming, processing, modeling, engineering, governance, privacy, taxonomy, and enterprise-wide analysis required to create customer and business value from CHG healthcare's data assets. This role will also be the primary strategic assessor of new, or external sources of data, to source and integrate for the company's benefit. This role will be an accountable executive to the organization to lead through CHG Healthcare's ongoing transformative data journey, as well as a key agent to lead through the creation of insights and analytics for effective decision making. This role will also be the leader of a dynamic and forward thinking data platform, analytics, and services team that is always thinking of what's next, ensuring they have the right team components to manage the vision and drive the execution of the vision.

The VP of Data Platform, Strategy, and Engineering will report to the Head of Engineering and be a key partner to the Chief Digital Officer for updates regarding CHG healthcare's data platform initiatives and results. This role will closely partner with other teams in the Data Engineering, Technology, Product and adjacent functions to plan and implement data platform initiatives, including data governance, data engineering, data architecture, data privacy and business insights.

While this role will have primary responsibilities to develop the data platform strategy, manage the ecosystem, and execute for impact, it will also require the leadership capabilities to bring the organization along the data journey, soliciting inputs and gathering buy in to ensure data priorities and insights will be meaningful for the business. Transformation experience, leadership acumen, business judgment, and executive presence will be equally important in the successful execution of the VP of Data Platform, Strategy, and Engineering 's agenda and daily responsibilities.

This role will impact the organization by taking scenarios generated by data today, and operationalizing scenarios to bring forward new solutions or insights, and have deep trust from the product managers and data engineers to be the go-to for how to ingest new sources of internal and external data and amplify its impact in the broader data ecosystem.

Your role:

  • Lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of CHG's data and analytics strategy in collaboration with our digital and business leaders.
  • Focus on solving business problems by reducing friction in getting to quality data. Own the collection, normalization (maintenance/storage) and access to data to grow trust, adoption, and new demand from the unified data platform. Weigh in on the role of third-party platforms in enhancing capabilities and work with stakeholders to incorporate that into our roadmaps.
  • Create value by measuring and interpreting business performance; providing actionable recommendations to capitalize on those insights; standardizing common metrics and reporting.
  • Build trust in the data by providing accurate and timely data. Incorporate business rules in the data warehouse to build easily accessible data sets with a high level of governance and quality around them.
  • Institute an enterprise operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise's data and analytics platform for digital business.
  • Lead research, strategy creation and development of new data products or services to expand markets and grow company revenue.
  • Expand the organization's research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills, and technologies, focusing them on digital business innovation.
  • Partner with the legal team on creation and adherence to privacy related policies and procedures with regard to information management and systems. Assess privacy related-risks and design controls for managing privacy compliance to protect CHG and our customers.
  • Create and oversee a centralized service for sourcing external data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability, and cost-effectiveness. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.

Your qualifications:

  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership; proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary talent teams in new endeavors and delivering solutions.
  • Proven data literacy - The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quantitative stakeholders.
  • Information strategy experience - Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance.
  • Analytical skills - Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists.
  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.
Education:

  • Fifteen or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, legal, financial or information or IT management.
  • Ten years of building and leading teams that build data platforms and services.
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and transformational, enterprise-wide programs that are visionary, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.
  • Strategy and management consulting experience desirable, with the ability and track record of rolling up sleeves to implement and execute.
