This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the United States and the region. This position is part of the Information Technology department and is responsible for providing quality training and service to end users. Our Technical Trainer and Instructional Designers assess computer training needs, develop instructional materials to meet those needs and provide users with the necessary computer training to function in their jobs through the delivery of one-on-one, classroom, and online instruction, dependent upon the end users level of expertise. They are responsible for: curriculum development; onboarding new employees in the use of job appropriate, firm-approved technologies; assisting in project management from initial planning phase to implementation; developing and providing train-the-trainer classes; eLearning resource development and analyzing the effectiveness of training and student feedback. Position will be located in either our Portland, Salt Lake City, OR Sacramento office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality legal industry technology training, along with innovative services that help lawyers achieve efficiencies in their practice through the effective use of technology
Work with Practice Groups, department managers, Office Administrators and Human Resources to develop curricula for new hire technology training, as well as supplemental training events for existing employees
Develop firm training materials, consisting of instructor-led curricula, e-Learning courses, tip sheets, user guides, Tips of the Week, training-related articles and FAQs, as well as maintaining the accuracy of those materials as technology and the use of it evolves
Occasionally travel to other offices to provide on-site training and technical assistance
Serve on project teams for rollouts of new technology and upgrades
Participate in the quality assurance testing and selection process of any new applications and after any upgrades/patches to ensure proper functionality exists
Assist the Technical Services, Solutions, and Operations teams with troubleshooting application problems, including responding to trouble tickets, and provide end-user technical support as required
Continue to develop skills and knowledge by seeking out learning opportunities and keeping updated on technology trends and developments in the industry

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES
Expert knowledge of Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite and any applications integrated within the MS Suite
Expert knowledge of Document Management System, and Customer Relationship Management systems
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Mastery of adult learning styles
Expert knowledge of Learning Management System and e-Learning tools
Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools, such as Camtasia or Adobe Captivate
Ability to work independently, and as part of a team and as a team leader
Ability to remain flexible in a constantly changing work environment and under difficult deadlines
Proven presentation/platform skills
Ability to manage multiple, concurrent objectives or activities, and effectively make judgments in prioritizing and time allocation in a high-pressure environment
Ability to successfully interface with personnel at all levels within the firm
Physical/Mental Capabilities
The ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time daily
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistant
Must be able to operate firm computer equipment and a touch tone telephone
Must be able to meet deadlines set by management
Must be available and able to travel
Ability to respond to email requests outside normal business hours to coordinate last minute changes or additions to New Hire training requests
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree or related equivalent combination of education and work experience is required. MCT Microsoft Certified Trainer or equivalent experience, or MOS Microsoft Office Specialist Certification preferred. Three or more years of experience training required, preferably in a law firm. Experience in the development of e-Learning
NORMAL WORK HOURS
This position is exempt. Normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5 p.m.
