Program Associate II, SLCC Web Content

This is a part-time position. This position will work to support the SLCC website. The SLCC website has recently undergone new templates and design. This employee will help the SLCC Institutional Marketing Web Team create, edit, organize, and move content to the new SLCC website templates on the Cascade CMS.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Under general direction in a team environment, perform various web-related assignments such as: Complete SLCC.edu web requests by creating HTML pages for the SLCC website using Cascade server and other HTML authoring tools; assisting with creating new Cascade templates; optimize images and text files for the web; proofread content; create web page layouts ensuring compliance with Best Practices, SLCC branding and Web publishing standards, and web accessibility; research and implement emerging technologies; provide Cascade and web accessibility trainings to individuals and groups.

This position will offer students the opportunity to demonstrate and/or acquire the six OCSE competencies: Knowledge acquisition through working with current standards in web programming such as HTML5, CSS3, and 508 Accessibility compliance, and emerging technologies; problem solving through debugging and troubleshooting the Cascade CMS and third-party party software used by the College; communication by learning and demonstrating business oral, written, and listening communication skills with co-workers and other department’s web content contributors to determine the best way to achieve the goals as well as problem solving; collaboration through working with web team staff as well as staff from other departments in providing consultation and training in Cascade CMS; Attendance and punctuality will be monitored daily and the student employee will be given feedback as needed. There will be other duties assigned as necessary.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of, and experience with a Content Management System or HTML website management
  • Basic understanding of web content strategy
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work with all forms of web content using content management system and/or other HTML authoring tools and advanced troubleshooting skills for all forms of web content
  • Basic knowledge or experience with HTML, XHTML, CSS and familiarity with XML, HTML5 and CSS3 scripting languages
  • Knowledge of and experience with Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Basic understanding of search engine optimized content; experience with Analytics tools
  • Understanding of W3 and 508 compliance web standards and ability to create accessible web content
  • Ability and willingness to conduct trainings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention for detail
  • Beginning to basic HTML knowledge
  • Beginning to basic Search Engine Optimization understanding or experience
  • Beginning to basic Web Content Strategy understanding or experience
  • Beginning to basic Adobe Creative Suite skills or experience
  • Beginning to basic familiarity with CSS, XHTML, XML, HTML5, CSS3
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions

Scheduled work hours must be during normal SLCC – business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm).

For Student employee, they will create her/his work schedule that is not conflicting with the College class schedule, and is expected to be at work as agreed. The time off work necessary for midterm and final tests preparation may be arranged with the supervisor one week in advance.

Attendance requirements: up to a maximum 125 hours per month during normal SLCC business hours. Non-attendance will result in termination of employment.
