Overview

A Materials Control Specialist goal is to control all raw material and finished goods, to support the lab operations. Coordinates inventory activities with manufacturing, purchasing, and accounting to minimize waste and maximize production.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Analyze, investigate, and correct inventory discrepancies.

    2. Conduct cycle counts, transact cycle count quantities, and identify root cause of variances

    and corrective actions to be taken.

    3. Assist with the preparation for all physical inventories including but not limited to:

    training, assigning resources for the inventory, and resolving all variances.

    4. Implement improvements to the physical inventory process to minimize waste and improve

    accuracy and efficiency.

    5. Data entry into an inventory system to maintain up-to-date and accurate data for all

    materials used in the laboratory manufacturing process.

    6. Other tasks and projects identified and directed by management.

    7. Manage Bill of Materials in MRP system.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent required. B.S. degree preferred.

2. Two to four years working with vendors in cost control.

3. Computer knowledgeable (preferably Oracle E-Procurement).

4. Experience in supply chain management.

5. Good written and verbal communication skills.

6. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with quick changing priorities .

7. Experience in a Bio-Tech/Pharmaceutical purchasing department is a plus.

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending,

communicating, observing, pushing or pulling and reaching. Use of equipment and tools

necessary to perform essential job functions.
